North East Culture Partnership event

A North East Culture Partnership event exploring the stories that cultural organisations can tell to build new and more diverse audiences

When: 19th March 2019, 10.30am-2.30pm,

Where: Northern Stage

Background

The Case for Culture’s Participation and Reach aspiration focuses on spreading the benefits of arts and heritage to make sure everyone benefits. Our ambition is to lead nationally in participation in culture, reaching an extra 500,000 people per year.

The Case for Culture: Participation and Reach Group has identified the need for marketing and participation teams to work more closely together to achieve this goal, and for cultural organisations of all sizes to communicate with existing and potential audiences. This event will showcase excellent, inspiring examples of how organisations have communicated about their impact on people’s lives, and the new audiences that have been reached as a result.

 Call for speakers

Have you successfully grown your audience through sharing stories about your work, your organisation and the difference you have made for people?

All sorts of pressures can get in the way of marketing and participation working effectively together. Have you overcome this challenge through an innovative new way of communicating with your audiences, which has delivered tangible results?

We are looking for speakers to tell inspiring, engaging stories and share tips and ideas for others in 15 mins maximum, with four presentation slots available in the morning session. We want presentations to be snappy and concise, holding our attendees’ attention from start to finish. You will also be invited to take part in the panel discussion at the close of the event.

 What we are looking for

Truly excellent, inspiring examples of good practice in communicating your work and your organisation’s story:

  • Across arts, museums and heritage
  • Small and large-scale examples
  • Examples of excellence beyond the cultural sector

You may also want to touch on an honest appraisal of what isn’t working as part of your presentation.

What we are not looking for

Please note that we aren’t looking for stories about great participation projects that have reached new audiences. Examples must be about how artists and organisations have used stories from and about participants and visitors to engage new audiences.

The event will be targeted to colleagues working across marketing and participation, and those with a communications remit in smaller organisations. It will combine short presentations with small group discussions. It is aimed at people working across the North East cultural and heritage sector and will include presentations from people within and beyond the region.

If you would like to express an interest in speaking at the event, email a one-page outline of the story you could tell to sallydixon@beamish.org.uk by 7th September 2018.

For further information please email the address above or contact Sally Dixon on 0191 370 4045.
